When Donald Trump suggested that a Malaria drug could treat COVID-19, the media and Canadians had a meltdown and accused him of spreading misinformation. Even though the president was only repeating what media had reported just a week prior, it was roundly attacked and condemned because of the derangement that infests the minds of journalists and corporate media. According to a recent National Post poll, Canadians think Canada is broken. The woke progressives with six-figure incomes quickly jumped onto the social media airhorns and told us that Canada is not in fact broken compared to the dozens of truly broken countries in the world. Nevertheless, events over the past month have revealed just how weak, incompetent and nefarious our ruling class and the bureaucracy they “govern” truly are.

The Conservative Party is morally and intellectually corrupt. It wasn't me who said that, it was Maxime Bernier. Although his party doesn't really offer an honest or viable alternative to the Conservatives, Bernier was right when he accused the CPC of being out of touch and morally inept. He is among a growing number of disaffected conservatives who have taken their business elsewhere, or who are now planning to. After the Conservative Party's latest leadership debacle, more of us are seeing the same kind of party that Maxime Bernier saw when he decided to pack his bags and leave.

One of the biggest impediments to Alberta Independence is the sentimentality of Canada in the hearts and minds of Albertans. They may complain and moan about partisan politics, but when it comes to patriotism, they beam with pride. It’s hardwired for people to believe that loving your country is a part of being a good person. No matter how dysfunctional and corrupt Canada becomes, Albertans still have a belief in the country that transcends the issues of the day.
