May Calls Snap Election In UK
In a surprising move, UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, announced Tuesday that Britons will be heading to the polls on June 8 in a snap general election. Following an early cabinet meeting, May made the announcement on Downing Street.
The purpose of the election will be to give May's Tories a stronger majority in the UK parliament in order to "make a success of Brexit", May told reporters. May said her decision was made "with reluctance", but that she believes the UK must have a strong mandate to move forward with Brexit successfully.
UK voters will head to the polls on June 8.
