Alberta Versus Woke

Protecting children from depravity is the name of the game.

Why is Woke attacking everything? Why is it so ascendant? Where did it start? What is it related to? Where will it take us? What can we do to stop it? These are the questions that Dr. James Lindsay recently addressed at his Take Back Alberta sponsored event in Calgary. You can watch the entire thing right here on Rumble, and I enthusiastically encourage you to do so. It’s intense and requires focus and effort. He goes over Herbert Marcuse, Mao’s Cultural Revolution, Standpoint Epistemology, Michel Foucault, Eve Sedgewick and more.

The main framework of the speech was around Woke attempts to get their hands on our children. This is timely as it occurred shortly after the nationwide marches promoting child safety from toxic ideologies regarding sexuality. James Lindsay boiled it down to this: Marxism is about equality (born out of envy) and Wokism is just the expansion of Marxism beyond the economic frame. Anything normal is an unfair privilege and thus must be eliminated in order to create equity. Children need to have concepts of normality destroyed so they don’t have unfair privilege. This includes sexuality.

What Lindsay didn’t say explicitly, but I’m sure I wasn’t the only one thinking it, is that all of this, at an even deeper level, is just window dressing for pedophile perverts to justify sexually molesting children. That’s where this is going. Grooming is taking place on two levels, grooming children into embracing sexually deranged ethics and grooming society in the long run to not only accept, but to celebrate the sexualization of children.

Lindsay’s prescription is to bluntly fight back. When people try to baffle you with bullshit, he instructs us to say your name, state that you’re a parent, and end the conversation. No other credential is important. No other justification is necessary. At a systemic level, we should fire them, sue them and protect our kids. No equivocation.

It was great to hear this and it felt good to be in a room with over a thousand other people on our side. I couldn’t help but think, however, has it really gotten to this point? Are we really rallying about school systems promoting an ideology that leads kids to believe they’re the wrong sex? Are we really at a point where we have to fight to protect our kids from being sexually mutilated by our education and medical systems?

My grandfather was a strong Progressive Conservative supporter. He died in 1987. If he showed up today and we talked politics, he would probably have trouble comprehending an issue like “Trans indoctrination for children.” It would be another log to through onto the insanity fire of our times, along with “taxes to stop the weather” and “surgical masks to protect your health”. I don’t think he would comprehend how far down the slippery slope our discourse has become.

And this urgency is reflected in James Lindsay. He spoke with passion and intellect, but also with a sense of grasping. He was trying to engage and educate the crowd with complex information and convey just how important this all is, but the fact that we’re at a point where he needs to do this is alarming.

Looking around the crowd, I’m not sure if everyone was able to keep up. Lots of conservative types get the gist of “things they don’t like”, but they aren’t quite game for Jordan Peterson-style deep dives. Nevertheless, Lindsay’s presentation was electric and action orientated.

Likewise with David Parker and the Take Back Alberta group. These guys are action orientated and I admire their moxie. I do think they are in grave danger of crossing a line or making a mistake that will cause irreparable harm to what it is they are trying to build. There is a sketchy amateurish quality to this gang, and I don’t mean any disrespect by that, but it does open the door to being taken advantage of, or for setting things up for ruin.

By the end of the event, I was feeling refreshed and energized. The ascendency of Woke progressivism can be disheartening and it was nice to hear some encouragement from a frontline fighter. Lindsay said at the top of his presentation that he was inspired by the energy he saw displayed in Calgary and Edmonton and so was I.

When the talk wrapped up, the sponsor of the event took to the stage. A spokesman for Bow Valley Credit Union spoke to the crowd and made it clear that they are on our side. David Parker also made it clear that we need to start doing more business with people who are aligned with us. Bow Valley Credit Union refused to freeze bank accounts during the Trucker Convoy and they refused to implement vaccine mandates amongst their staff. They are supporting Alberta’s energy sector and moving some of their holdings into gold. Give their website a look and consider opening an account.

The event wrapped up and people got their pictures taken with Lindsay at the front of the venue. I walked back to my car and thought about the future. Normally I advocate for being sly like a fox and being smart within the system we have. I still hold to this, but the time is soon coming for those of us on the Right to step it up and go a little (not a lot) more public. Pick battles carefully. Target realistic wins. Succeed. I thought the ascendency of Woke would be a long-term prospect, building upon the decomposing corpse of the 20th century Left. Increasingly, I’m not so sure. There are those on the Right that think a backlash is coming and it’s coming fast. Perhaps Wokism won’t last, maybe reality will assert itself before we reach Year Zero. Hopefully those people are correct.
